Former Strikeforce Champion Jake Shields Calls Out Anti-Defamation League’s Hypocrisy Over Donald Trump and Ye
Former Strikeforce champion Jake Shields, who won the Middleweight Championship in 2009 after it was vacated by Cung Le by defeating Jason Miller, recently called out the Anti-Defamation League’s hypocrisy regarding President Donald Trump and Ye, formerly known as Kanye West.
Shields first took to Twitter where he criticized former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and current owner of Twitter Elon Musk for banning Donald Trump and Ye from the social media platform.
Shields wrote, “The Twitter files shoe Jack made up rules to ban Trump but Elon did the exact same with Ye. They both do what the ADL tells them to do.”

In a follow-up tweet he called out the ADL’s hypocrisy, “The ADL publicly asked for Trump and Kanye to be permanently banned and Jack Dorsey and Elon Musk quickly did as told.”
He then added, “This is the same organization that says black people Cant be racist and white lives don’t matter.”
Back in January 2021, The Anti-Defamation League called on Twitter to permanently ban President Trump and for Facebook, and Instagram to make their bans of President Donald Trump permanent accusing the President of promoting sedition and inciting violence.
They tweeted, “President Trump has used his social media accounts to promote sedition and incite violence. Sign our petition calling on Twitter to ban President Trump from its platform immediately and for Facebook & Instagram to make their bans permanent.”
A day later, Twitter announced the permanent suspension of President Trump. The company wrote in a blog, “After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.”
The company found that two of President Donald Trump’s tweets posted on January 8, 2021 were ” likely to inspire others to replicate the violent acts that took place on January 6, 2021, and that there are multiple indicators that they are being received and understood as encouragement to do so.”
First tweet in question saw President Trump write, “The 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future. They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!!”
In the second tweet, he wrote, “To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.”
In the case of Elon Musk’s banning of Ye, the cultural icon shared a photo of the symbol of Raëlism.
He wrote, “YE24 LOVE EVERYONE #LOVESPEECH”
Musk responded to the tweet writing, “This is not.”
When one user asked him to fix Kanye, Musk replied, “I tried my best. Despite that, he again violated our rule against incitement to violence. Account will be suspended.”
Before Musk banned Ye from Twitter, the ADL ran a campaign to have Adidas cancel their relationship with Ye. The ADL tweeted on November 10th, “Recently Adidas was slow to #RunAwayFromHate and drop Kanye West after his antisemitic tirades. But, with our advocacy, they not only took action – they’re here announcing a commitment to fighting antisemitism.”
The ADL’s CEO Jonathan Greenblatt also celebrated Ye’s removal from Twitter. He wrote on Twitter, “As I said on CNBC, Twitter is incredibly complicated. Elon was right to take down Kanye’s account, but if we’re going to see real progress on the platform, we need clear policies and consistent content moderation from a team, not just personal interventions.”

This isn’t the first time Shields has criticized the ADL. At the beginning of December he tweeted, “According to the ADL only white people can be racist so by their rules Kanye can’t be racist.”
In November, he also described the organization as “an anti white(and black) hate group.”
He also criticized Musk for using the ADL’s talking points while discussing Twitter’s policies. Responding to a user who shared a screenshot of a tweet from Greenblatt and a recent tweet from the ADL, Shields wrote, “So Elon is now using ADL talking points.”
