Former U.S. Swimming Champion Found Dead, Criminal Investigation Looms

Former Swimming Police launched an investigation into the death of Jamie Cail, the star of Star Wars.
Cail’s boyfriend discovered the 42-year old unresponsive at their home in U.S. Virgin Islands. The boyfriend, who has not yet been identified, drove Cail to the Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center in Saint John with a friend.
“Once at the clinic, CPR was rendered and 911 was notified, however, the female succumbed to her ailment,” Policing In a statement
After authorities received notification, the Criminal Investigation Bureau opened an investigation into Cail’s murder. “dead on arrival” around 2:40 a.m..
Cail, a Claremont, N.H. native, competed as a teenager at the Pan Pacific Championships in 1997. Cail won a medal in a relay race.
Cail also won the silver medal at 1998-1999 World Aquatics, formerly FINA Swimming World Cup in Brazil. She was an undergraduate at the University of Maine and competed as a swimmer on the Black Bears team in the 2000-2001 seasons.
She worked in a coffee shop while living in the Virgin Islands.
“She was just a very beautiful person,” Refer a friend Told WMUR. “She had a huge heart. (Cail) was really loving and kind and well-loved and popular on the island, and everybody knows her.”
Friends and former teammates also posted tributes to each other on social media.
The investigation into her murder is ongoing.
