Windham Rotunda, also known as WWE wrestler Bray Wyatt, has tragically passed away at the age of 36.
The heartbreaking news was announced by WWE chief content officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque on social media.
Wyatt had been absent from WWE events for several months due to an undisclosed health issue.
The talented wrestler joined WWE in 2009 and rose to the main roster in 2012.
However, he made a mysterious return to the company in September of last year, captivating audiences with his storyline and boosting television ratings.
“Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda also known as Bray Wyatt, unexpectedly passed earlier today,” Levesque wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Our thoughts are with his family and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time.”
The cause of Wyatt’s death has not been revealed, but it has been reported that he suffered a heart attack, possibly related to his previous battle with COVID.
Former and current WWE wrestlers have expressed their condolences to Wyatt’s family.
“I’m heartbroken over the news of Bray Wyatt’s passing,” Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Always had tremendous respect and love for him and the Rotunda family. Loved his presence, promos, in-ring work, and connection with @wwe universe. Very unique, cool, and rare character, which is hard to create in our crazy world of pro wrestling. Still processing losing the goat, Terry Funk yesterday and now Bray today.”
Wyatt is survived by his fiancé, former WWE ring announcer JoJo Offerman, their two children, and two children from a previous relationship.
