In the third quarter of 2024, Fox News Channel achieved its second-highest ratings for this period in the network’s history, marking the 91st consecutive quarter where it topped prime-time show ratings among all cable news channels. Significant news events, including the political conventions, President Joe Biden’s decision to end his presidential campaign, and an attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, contributed to Fox News’ viewership surge. Notably, its simulcast of a presidential debate on September 10 attracted more viewers than comparable broadcasts on other major networks. Additionally, Fox’s ratings for the Republican National Convention were the highest for prime-time convention coverage ever, while the weekend coverage of the Trump assassination attempt garnered record viewership at 6.9 million.
