Fox sends cease-and-desist letter to Media Matters for leaked Tucker Carlson footage.
Fox Corporation Goes After Media Matters for America Over Leaked Tucker Carlson Footage
Fox Corporation, the parent company of Fox News, is not happy with Media Matters for America (MMFA) for publicizing leaked footage of former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson. In response, Fox Corporation has sent a cease-and-desist letter to MMFA. The leaked footage includes Carlson making jokes with members of his staff and criticizing the company’s on-demand subscription service, Fox Nation.
In a May 5 letter to MMFA President and CEO Angelo Carusone, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, a law firm, wrote that MMFA had no right to publish the footage. They stated that the footage is Fox’s confidential intellectual property and that Fox did not consent to its distribution or publication. Fox demands that Media Matters cease and desist from distribution, publication, and misuse of Fox’s misappropriated proprietary footage, which was unlawfully obtained.
In response, Carusone fired back at Fox, stating that reporting on newsworthy leaked material is a fundamental part of journalism.
