Fran Drescher Uses SAG Awards Speech to Encourage Libs to Get More Active in Local Politics
The 29th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards On Sunday night, the live broadcast was aired on Netflix’s YouTube channel. The speakers were primarily focused on acting and not politics. stark contrast to previous years –– with the notable exception of SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher who used part of her time on stage to encourage Hollywood to get more involved in state-level politics.
What is her plan exactly?
She wants Hollywood to use production money like a carrot to get governors to back their preferred policies.
This means that you threaten Republican governors who refuse to accept the liberal agenda by boycotting them.
Fran Drescher: Together, SAG-AFTRA and NFLPA created Actors & Athletes for Democracy. We have the greatest influence on the world and must encourage freedom for all. The industry we work in brings millions of dollars to each state. However, if the governors want our business, let us use our financial influence to get them to act in the best interests of freedom, diversity and inclusion. Bobbi Flekman was my character. This is Spinal Tap, “Money talks, & bullshit walks!”
Although freedom, diversity and inclusion are all good things it is often coded for more government, stricter gun laws, abortion until the moment you give birth, and other regulations.
This was not a new idea. Hollywood has threatened red states with legislation that doesn’t conform to the liberal agenda. The threats made by movie producers to boycott are an example. Georgia Over a pro-life law back to 2019.
Liberal movie producers started fleeing California Many years ago, red states were favored by wealthy tax breaks, lower living costs, affordable studio space, and fewer regulations.
Drescher also went on to boast about SAG-AFTRA & MPA’s ‘Green Council’ and their “biggest effort to save the planet since WWII” –– which apparently is just an honor system to stop using disposable plastics during movie shoots.
Fran Drescher: It’s a great honor to be able to say that SAG-AFTRA and MPA have forged Green Council, which is the largest joint effort of Stars and Studios since World War II. One mission, an honor system that eliminates single-use plastic on camera. Behind the scenes, star power is used to challenge audiences all over the globe to do the same.
You might notice that glass bottles are now on your tables this year.
It’s not clear why Drescher would speak out about using glass bottles at this event. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, glass bottles have a higher environmental impact than plastic. Journal of Waste Resources and Reprocessing, as well as several other environmental researchers.
Most glass ends up in landfills. According to HowStuffWorks, only a quarter of glass in the U.S. is recycled. Oof.
Anywho, the awards show had a surprising lack of opinions on U.S. politics during this 2-plus hour show –– which is interesting considering how much Hollywood had to say when Donald Trump was president.
As you may remember, when it came Trump’s presidency, clueless celebrities typically had something negative to say whenever they were given a platform to do it.
President Joe Biden was mentioned exactly zero times.
Funny how silent Hollywood is now, despite the amount of challenges our country is facing under his administration.
