‘Chill Public Debate’
The incident was further addressed at a Jamia Masjid Swafia mosque meeting. The boy’s mother then pleaded her case to an imans, Tudor Griffiths, and Inspector Andy Thornton who confirmed that students had treated the book as hateful.
In a statement, the Free Speech Union (FSU), said that Post It was tweeted by Twitter “hard pressed to imagine a sequence of events more likely to chill public debate and freedom of expression than recording this episode as a ‘hate incident’ and attaching that data to the children’s records, in spite of the absence of any malicious intent.”

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson told The Epoch Times email that no hate crimes have been reported, but that they had received a report. “hate incident” Recorded.
British police encourage citizens to report incidents of non-crime hatred (NCHIs), as described by “any non-crime incident which is perceived by the victim or any other person to be motivated by hostility or prejudice,” Official hate crime websites
2021 a top court ruled The College of Policing’s (CoP’s) guidelines on recording NCHIs were in violation of Harry Miller’s former police officer status. Freedom of expression as defined in Article 10 of the European Convention of Human Rights.
CoP’s updated guidance now states that NCHIs must be licensed. “should not be recorded where they are trivial, irrational, or if there is no basis to conclude that an incident was motivated by hostility.”
Death threats
In a Letter Toby Young, FSU General Secretary Toby Young, addressed this letter to Inspector Andy Thornton “We are deeply concerned by the official response to the troubling events at Kettlethorpe High School in Wakefield, following an accusation that a Year 10 pupil caused ‘slight damage’ to a copy of the Quran.”
“We understand that this has resulted in death threats being made against the pupil in question, and that no police action is to be taken against those who have made these threats after the mother of the pupil who received them was visibly placed under pressure not to pursue the matter at an event held at a local mosque,” He added.
Young observed that Thornton claimed that the incident caused minor damage to the pupil’s private property. This was despite an investigation being conducted by the school concluding that it was not. “no malicious intent” This is what caused the small damage to one page.
“We know from dealing with other cases, that when the police conclude a ‘non-crime hate incident’ has been committed by an individual or group of individuals, that information is kept on file and can show up when an enhanced criminal records check is shown up,” Young.

Miller said to The Epoch Times he believed that the incident was accidental. “backdoor sharia.”
“It was a public humiliation, wasn’t it? They did everything short of putting them in stocks and pelting them with tomatoes, and the fact there was a chief inspector there endorsing it is something that is sickening,” He added.
“We have backdoor sharia, it’s as simple as that,” said Miller.
He claimed that NCHI’s potential was enormous. “absolute contempt by West Yorkshire police for the court and the public, it shows absolute obedience to sharia.”
Hate Incident
The Epoch Times was contacted by an official from West Yorkshire Police to confirm the following: “We are aware of local and national concerns following an incident at Kettlethorpe High School in Wakefield last week.
“On Thursday, February 23, police were notified of an incident at the school that occurred earlier in the day. Initial inquiries revealed that minor damage had been done to a religious book. While we recorded the hate incident, our investigations have shown that no criminal offences were committed.” he said.
“Also, an incident involving threats to a child was reported as a case of malicious communications. Officers gave some advice to a suspect who was also a child.” he added.
“The spokesman said that they are maintaining contact with the school and that the neighbourhood officers are carrying out additional reassurance patrols in this area.
