Gaetz ridicules Christie: ‘I’d rather follow Chris Christie’s workout routine than his fundraising tactics.’

Rep. Matt Gaetz Ridicules Chris Christie’s Criticism of House Judiciary Committee Hearing

During a recent House Judiciary Committee hearing, FBI Director Christopher Wray faced intense scrutiny regarding the alleged weaponization of the FBI. However, Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie dismissed the proceedings as mere “theater” and a fundraising stunt. This did not sit well with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who wasted no time in mocking Christie’s remarks.

“He said that Christopher Wray had delivered extraordinary results. The problem is they’re just extraordinarily awful,” Gaetz told Hannity, highlighting the stark contrast between Christie’s praise and the reality of the FBI’s performance. Gaetz further criticized Christie’s credibility, stating, “I’m not going to take my notes on fundraising from a guy who was a lobbyist and was snout down in the lobbyist financial money laundering situation when he was raising money from them as governor of New Jersey.”

“So, I’m more likely to take Chris Christie’s exercise plan than his fundraising strategy,” Gaetz added, injecting a touch of humor into his scathing remarks.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan Joins the Criticism

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, also appeared on Hannity to express his dissatisfaction with Wray’s testimony. Jordan accused the FBI director of lying and emphasized the need to limit the use of American tax dollars.

“That’s why we got to use the power of the purse and the appropriations process to limit how American tax dollars can be spent,” Jordan asserted. “That’s why we can’t reauthorize FISA in its current form. And that’s why we should look at moving the headquarters, not give them a new building in the D.C. area, but moving the headquarters to Huntington, Alabama. That makes sense to us. So, we’re looking at all that.”

Jordan also criticized Wray’s evasive responses, stating, “That’s why we should look at moving the headquarters, not give them a new building in the D.C. area, but moving the headquarters to Huntington, Alabama. That makes sense to us. So, we’re looking at all that.”

Furthermore, Gaetz accused Wray of lying about various issues, including the repositioning of assets to investigate parents’ comments at school board meetings and the misuse of FISA. Gaetz referred to Wray’s testimony as “a cascade of lies.”

Prior to Wray’s appearance, the House Judiciary Committee had accused the FBI of violating Americans’ First Amendment rights and potentially compromising national security by assisting censorship requests from a Ukrainian intelligence agency on behalf of social media companies.
