Gang Member Sentenced For Killing Rapper Nipsey Hussle

A member of one America’s largest gangs was sentenced Wednesday to 60-years imprisonment for the murder of Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hassle in 2019.

Eric Holder Jr., 32 years old, was sentenced by Los Angeles County Superior Judge H. Clay Jacke, to 25 years for murder, 25 years for gun enhancement conviction and 10 years for assault convictions for shooting Hussle’s two accomplices, The Los Angeles Times reported.

Holder, a Crips gang member, approached Hussle at Marathon Clothing while on a date on March 31, 2019, with a woman. After a brief conversation, Holder returned with two handguns to kill Hussle in broad daylight.

Hussle Following the release his Grammy-nominated debut album 2018, he rose in stardom to national prominence “Victory Lap.” He spoke out about his past involvement with a South Los Angeles gang. Hussle (born Ermias) Asghedom was an exemplary member of the community. He generously donated his resources and employed many people through a few shops, including Marathon Clothing.

The LA Times reported that Herman Douglas, a close friend and confidant of the star, spoke at Wednesday’s sentencing to mourn Hussle’s negative impact on the community.

“Our community right now, we lost everything. Everything we worked for. … thousands of jobs we don’t have no more. Homies don’t have nothing to do. They backsliding, they robbing people now,” Douglas said. “All our stores are closed down. The whole community relied on Nip.”

Holder and Hussle were both members of the Rollin’ Sixtys Crips street gang. It was one of the most powerful gangs in Los Angeles. Aaron Jansen, Holder’s defense attorney, argued that Holder was guilty of a crime. “triggered” Hussle accused Holder of snitching before other gang members. Jansen stated that Holder had become irrational due to Hussle’s accusation. He argued that Holder should be convicted instead of murder.

John McKinney, the Deputy District Attorney, said Holder was struggling as a rapper and was jealous about Hussle’s success.

Douglas began to sing after Holder was sentenced by the judge to 60 years imprisonment. “Hit the Road, Jack” Before the judge ordered him to be taken out of the courtroom.
