Gas prices: Another day of decreases at the pumps

Gas prices dropped again Tuesday, marking a second consecutive weekday of decreases at the pumps.

The average price for a gallon of regular gas is $3.515 on Tuesday, according to AAA. That is a slight decrease from Monday’s price of $3.521 per gallon and slightly less expensive than a week ago, when the average cost for a gallon of regular gas was $3.519. Prices are, however, higher than a month ago, when regular gas was $3.447 per gallon.

Mississippi was the state with the lowest price, $3.004, for a gallon of regular gas on Monday. California had the country’s most expensive gas at $4.746.

Washington, D.C.

On Tuesday, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Washington was $3.705. That is a slight decrease from the day before, when gas was $3.709. A week ago, regular gas was also $3.709 per gallon. A month ago, it cost people in the district $3.665 per gallon.

Virginia

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia on Tuesday is $3.462. This decreased from Monday’s average price of $3.466 per gallon. Prices are slightly more expensive now than a week ago, when regular-grade gas was $3.441 per gallon. A month ago in Virginia, it was $3.364. Last year, a gallon of regular gas was $3.411.

Maryland

The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Maryland on Tuesday was $3.561. It is a decrease from Monday’s price of $3.573. A week ago, the price for regular gas was $3.590 per gallon. On Tuesday, a gallon of regular gas in Florida cost $3.479. That is lower than Monday’s price of $3.501 per gallon. Last week, a gallon of regular gas also cost $3.479 in Florida. A month ago, the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.246.
