Gas prices: Second straight day of price increases at the pumps – Washington Examiner

Gas⁤ prices in the U.S. experienced another‌ rise ‌on Tuesday, ⁢with the ⁣average price per gallon of highest price in nearly 7 years”>regular gas climbing to $3.469, marking an over two cents ​increase from⁢ Monday’s average⁤ of $3.448. This marks a continuation of ⁣a two-day trend of rising prices. Comparatively, a​ week ago, the cost⁣ was slightly lower‌ at $3.44 per gallon, and a month ago it was higher at $3.599 per gallon.​ Meanwhile, a year ago ‌at the end of June, the average was at⁢ $3.574 per gallon.

California reported the highest price for regular gas ⁣at $4.817 per gallon, while Mississippi had‌ the lowest at⁢ $2.929 per ⁤gallon. Gas prices vary significantly from state to state.​ In Washington, D.C., the average gas⁤ price was $3.661 on Tuesday, presenting a slight drop from Monday’s $3.666 per gallon. One month⁤ earlier, the ‌average price was a bit higher ⁢at $3.698 per gallon.

Gas prices increased again on Tuesday as the average price for a gallon of regular gas reached $3.469, jumping over two cents in 24 hours. On Monday, the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.448, according to AAA. It was the second straight day of increases for gas prices.

A week ago, it cost $3.44 for a gallon of regular gas. A month ago, the cost was $3.599 per gallon. A year ago, heading into the last week of June 2023, the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.574.

The state with the most expensive gas in the country on Tuesday was California. It cost $4.817 for a gallon of regular gas in the Golden State. On the opposite end of the gas price spectrum, Mississippi was the state with the cheapest gas prices with a gallon of regular gas costing $2.929. The prices in both states were slightly more expensive than what it cost for a gallon of gas on Tuesday.

Washington, D.C.

In the nation’s capital, the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.661 on Tuesday. This was a slight increase from Monday’s price of $3.666 per gallon. A week ago, gas was $3.667 per gallon. A month ago, a gallon of regular gas was more expensive, coming in at $3.698 per gallon.

Virginia

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia on Tuesday was $3.319. This was a slight increase from Monday’s average price of $3.318 per gallon. Both prices are a slight decrease from a week ago when regular-grade gas was $3.35 per gallon in Virginia. Furthermore, these prices are much cheaper than from a month ago, when it cost $3.466 per gallon for regular gas.

Maryland

The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Maryland on Tuesday was $3.513. This was slightly less expensive than Monday’s price of $3.518 per gallon. Both prices are less expensive than a week ago, when gas cost $3.572 per gallon. Gas prices are also cheaper now than from a month ago, when it cost $3.672 for a gallon of regular gas.

Delaware

The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Delaware on Tuesday was $3.446. This was a slight drop from Monday’s price of $3.454 per gallon. A week ago, regular gas in the First State was $3.499 per gallon. Gas prices were lower over the weekend in Delaware than compared to a month ago when gas cost $3.529 per gallon.

Alaska

In Alaska, the average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas was $3.908 on Tuesday. This was a slight decrease from a day earlier when the average price of $3.93 per gallon. It is also cheaper than from a week ago, when regular-grade gas was $3.933 per gallon. Prices are also significantly cheaper than from a month ago, when people in Alaska had to pay $4.292 per gallon for regular gas.

Hawaii

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Hawaii on Tuesday was $4.708. This was a slight increase from Monday when the average price of $4.70 per gallon. A week ago, regular-grade gas was $4.736 per gallon. A month ago, it cost $4.788 for a gallon of regular gas in the Aloha State.
