Gas Tanker Explodes on Maryland Highway, Killing 1
One person was killed when a gas tanker that had been overturned exploded onto a Frederick highway on Saturday. Residents were advised to stay away from the affected area by city officials.
Ron Snyder, public information officer at Maryland State Police (MDSP), said that smoke and flames were visible in the air following the explosion of the tanker on U.S. Route 15 Maryland.
Snyder confirmed that Snyder was the one who said the driver of this tanker had died at the scene. There were no other injuries or fatalities.
According to MDSP officers on the scene, the highway was shut down between Route 50 and 7th Street.
MDSP shared this Tweet “Multiple vehicles and homes suffered damage from flames from the fire caused by the overturned tanker.”
