Gavin Newsom recall effort receives $1M boost from John Cox

The campaign to recall California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has received another big boost from Republican John Cox. The San Diego businessman recently made his second personal donation of $1 million to the recall effort.

The 2018 California gubernatorial candidate is making another run for governor in the likely recall election. Cox gained the support of President Trump in 2018, but lost by 24 points in the election.

So far, recall efforts have reached the 1.5 million signature threshold to trigger a special election. The goal is to reach the 2 million mark by mid-March for a comfortable margin Nshould some signatures be disqualified.
