George Santos Introduces Bill Requiring President to Undergo Annual Cognitive Test
Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., introduced a bill March 13 that would require President Obama to submit an annual cognitive assessment.
The Executive Mental Competency Protection Act of Twenty23 would require that the commander-in chief take a cognitive test each year not later than January 1.
“Regardless of political affiliation, this should be a common sense and bipartisan agreement that when a man or a woman becomes President, they submit to an annual cognitive evaluation,” said Santos in Make a statement.
“Physical examination results are publicly released throughout their time in office, and a thorough cognitive assessment should also be included, and failure to comply will result in no federal funds being obligated or expended for official travel.”
The bill would require the president to undergo testing in general intellect, reading & comprehension, attention & concentration, processing speed, learning & memory, reasoning, executive functions, visuospatial skills, motor speed & dexterity, mood & personality, and memory retention.
It is not yet clear if this bill will be put to a vote in the GOP-controlled House. Even if it passed the House, it will likely die in the Democrat controlled Senate.

GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley (51), has committed to mandatory mental competency tests for all politicians over 70 years old. Since then, she has extended that requirement to judges and stated that she is open to the possibility of lowering the age requirement down to 50.
Furthermore, Senate Majority Lead Chuck Schumer (D.N.Y.), is 72. Senate Minority Leadership Mitch McConnell (R.Ky.), who was discharged from the hospital on March 13, after suffering a fall at a Washington hotel, March 8, is 81.
Santos, who is 34 years old, was accused of fabricating his own life story.
