Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) has released a video showcasing the state’s “unshakeable resilience” ahead of the 2025 Sugar Bowl, which is being held after a major terrorist attack in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The video, narrated by Kemp, released late-Thursday morning, showcases how the state of Georgia knows what it means to go through “adversity” over the years, including the damage toll that Hurricane Helene took on the state. Kemp’s comments come right after New Orleans in Louisiana underwent a terrorist attack on New Year’s Day, prompting the 2025 Sugar Bowl game to get delayed to Thursday afternoon.

“But in life and in football, it doesn’t matter if you get knocked down; it only matters if you get back up,” Kemp says in the video posted to X. “And right now, we’re still standing.”

WHICH JAN. 6 DEFENDERS COULD SEE PARDONS

Kemp’s post also states that “the strength of community” is what brings the nation together following tragedy. The 2025 Sugar Bowl game is set to be held at the Caesar Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, and will pit the Georgia Bulldogs against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

The video ends with promoting how Atlanta, Georgia, will host the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship, scheduled for Jan. 20. Should the Georgia Bulldogs emerge victorious in the Sugar Bowl, they will face off against Penn State’s Nittany Lions in the Orange Bowl, set for Jan. 9, as part of the college football’s semifinals.

Ahead of the Sugar Bowl, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill suggested that the game ought to have been delayed further, citing how the investigation into the New Orleans terrorist attack is still underway. The attack has killed over a dozen people and injured another 35.

Both President-elect Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) have blamed President Joe Biden’s leadership and failure to secure the southern border for the attack on New Orleans, with Trump stating he had warned about “Radical Islamic Terrorism” ahead of time. Johnson stated on Thursday morning that House Republicans had spent years warning about the danger of an open border, but that the Biden administration has been “completely derelict” in its duties.
