GA Senator urges Gov. Kemp to convene legislature for Fulton County’s investigation into Trump.

Republican state Sen. Colton Moore sent ⁢a letter ⁤on Thursday asking Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp to convene a special session of the state legislature to probe‌ Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis‘‍ recent indictment of Donald ⁣Trump.

“As a Georgia State ‍Senator, I am officially ⁣calling ‌for an‍ emergency session ‍to review the actions of Fani Willis,” Moore wrote on X, the platform⁣ formerly known as Twitter. “America is under attack. I’m not going to⁢ sit back and watch as radical‌ left prosecutors politically TARGET ⁣political opponents.”

In ⁣his Thursday⁢ letter, ⁢Moore asserted he⁤ and Georgia legislators believe ⁤“an ‌emergency exists in the affairs of the state” that “requir[es] a special session to be convened” and‍ requested Kemp convene a special session of the‌ state legislature to “review … the⁤ actions of Fani Willis.” The Georgia senator ⁣also launched ‌an online petition where individuals can show their support for such an investigation.

Moore’s demand ‌comes days following Willis’ announcement that Trump and 18 of⁤ his associates would be charged for what‍ she claims was an⁣ attempt to “conspire[] and endeavor[] to conduct and participate in criminal‌ enterprise” to overturn the results of ⁣the 2020 election. A further‍ review of⁤ Willis’ indictment, however, reveals just how ludicrous and politically motivated many of the charges are.

In an‌ apparent attempt ‍to criminalize free speech, Willis lists numerous “acts” her office claims contribute to this so-called “conspiracy” to overturn the 2020 election⁣ results. In one example, Willis claimed a Nov. 7, 2020, text Mark Meadows sent to Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., asking for ⁣the phone numbers of Pennsylvania’s ⁣legislative leaders because Trump⁤ wanted “to⁣ chat with them” constituted a “furtherance” of alleged crimes.

She also leveled the same accusation when citing tweets by Trump, in ‌which the former president encouraged his ‌followers to watch Georgia Legislature hearings on the 2020 election on ⁣Newsmax and One American ⁤News Network.
