Arrest of Suspected Gilgo Beach Serial Killer

Last week, the 59-year-old suspect, who had remained unidentified for more than ⁢a decade, was arrested for the murder‌ of three women whose bodies were found on Gilgo Beach in Long Island, New York, in 2010.

All four bodies were discovered within days of each other. Melissa Barthelemy’s body‌ was found on December 11, 2010, during a police training exercise with a K9.​ Two days later, the bodies of⁤ Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Megan Waterman, and Amber Costello were found in the area. The suspect has not been charged for Brainard-Barnes’ ‌death but is considered the prime suspect.

The suspect was arrested on July 13 and, if convicted, faces multiple life sentences without parole.
