Wife of Gilgo Beach Serial Killer Suspect Seeks Divorce.
The Wife of Suspected Gilgo Beach Serial Killer Files for Divorce
The wife of the suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer has filed for divorce less than a week after her husband’s arrest for the heinous crimes. The arrest has taken a toll on the family, according to her attorney, Bob Macedonio.
“This is all still a whirlwind,” Macedonio told Fox News. “Her and her children’s lives have been completely turned upside-down.”
The suspect’s wife, who is not suspected of any crimes, remains unnamed in accordance with The Daily Wire’s policy to deny mass killers the notoriety they often seek. Shortly after the suspect’s arrest, authorities went to the family’s house and informed them about the arrest. They also seized their passports, computers, phones, and iPads.
“They were home and the cops came in, and they were completely blindsided, and they told them what was going on,” Macedonio revealed.
Investigators have had control of the suspect’s home for the past week as they continue to search for evidence. They have reportedly recovered hundreds of guns. The suspect has pleaded not guilty.
Arrest of the Suspect
The 59-year-old suspect, who remained unidentified for more than a decade, was arrested last week for the murder of three women whose bodies were found on Gilgo Beach in Long Island, New York, in 2010.
All four bodies were found within days of each other. The suspect has not been charged for one of the victims’ deaths, but is considered the prime suspect.
All four women are believed to have been sex workers, and each was lured to Long Island by someone using a burner phone. After their deaths, the killer used the cell phones of two victims.
Investigation and Evidence
In January 2022, a task force was created to investigate the cold case. They identified a first-generation Chevrolet Avalanche that belonged to the suspect, which was seen at the scene of one of the murders.
Further investigation revealed links between the suspect and the burner phones used to lure the victims. Taunting calls made to one victim’s sister were traced back to the suspect’s location in Midtown Manhattan. The suspect’s wife was out of the country when the victims disappeared.
The Suffolk County Crime Lab found unidentified female hair during the investigation. DNA from the suspect’s trash was linked to the hair found on the victims, believed to be from his wife. Male hair found on one victim’s remains was also linked to the suspect through DNA analysis.
The suspect was arrested on July 13 and, if convicted, faces multiple life sentences without parole.
