GM announces future work-from-home plan

General Motors announced a new initiative that will allow many employees to continue working from home after the coronavirus pandemic.

In a blog post Tuesday, CEO Mary Barra released the plan dubbed “Work Appropriately,” which offers increased flexibility for employees to work wherever they can have the greatest impact on achieving company goals. She went on to highlight the company’s desire to be a workplace of choice for all employee, adding they hope they can create a better normal.

“As we do get closer to returning to normalcy, what should a workplace look like?” asked Stuart Fowle, Brand Communications Manager for General Motors. And what have we learned that is good from the past year and what have we learned that is an opportunity to change things.”

This plan comes as many businesses contemplate how the future will look as the world returns to normalcy. For example, Ford recently announced a hybrid work schedule, which will give non-manufacturing employees more flexibility over when they come into the office.
