Godzilla “A Big Part” of Apple Tv’s Monsterverse Series That Is Set to Introduce New Titans and Overlap With Adam Wingard-Helmed Film
There has been very little recent discussion about the MonsterVerse TV Series from Legendary. Now that the series is ready for streaming, there are exciting updates from Matt Shakman (showrunner)
Interview with Collider, The former WandaVision String puller teased that the MonsterVerse movie will feature visual effects similar to its cinematic brethren. Godzilla may also be present in a sufficient capacity to boast about. “…Godzilla…has a very important role to play, and how he factors into the series is a big part of it,” Shakman spoke.
He also spoke out about the budget for VFX. “You always run out of money eventually, even if it’s Harry Potter or Star Wars, Star Trek, Godzilla, you run out of money. But it’s less about carrying out shots, although eventually, you have to do that, and more just about storytelling.” What a Godzilla! “going to factor into the story” It was taken into consideration.

Shakman added that he wasn’t alone. “he’s not the only Titan that you’re gonna meet along the way.” So expect some VFX-heavy shots. “So there’s, yeah, there’s a VFX conversation constantly happening in that.” Only question is, what Titans viewers will see? Toho may provide some, or Legendary might create new ones.
Legendary was able to add the MUTOs (Behemoth and Warbats), Titanus Doug, and Warbats to their extended MonsterVerse. This should encourage Legendary to continue to develop more. The comics also have monsters we haven’t seen yet, including the Bat-God Camazotz, Godzilla’s subsea rival Tiamat and the MUTO Prim.
With the Apple series occurring in the mid-2010s, between Legendary’s first Godzilla Film and its sequel King of the MonstersAs it turns out, you can do all of this. Skull Island is Kong It is also possible that the inhabitants of the lost location will appear within this timeframe. Some “overlap” Guaranteed to be included with the next movie.
“There is some overlap, though we were not heavily involved in talking about it with Adam Wingard and his team [on Godzilla and Kong],” Shakman explained. “Legendary is the studio for our show, as well as for the films, and so they sort of sit at the juncture there between the two, and they have a mythology department there which is wonderful.”
He continued, “So they weigh in on how things might overlap, how certain creatures need to stay on one side or the other, and so there is a lot of conversation about it.” But things won’t connect as heavily as the MCU does – “…it’s not as involved to say, an MCU kind of Disney+ film crossover. It’s less organized.”
