GoFundMe Removes Fundraisers For Elderly Rancher Who Allegedly Shot And Killed Illegal Immigrant Crossing His Land: Report
GoFundMe has apparently removed many fundraisers that were intended to raise funds for the high bail placed on an elderly Arizona rancher, who allegedly shot an illegal immigrant crossing his property.
George Alan Kelly, age 73, was charged with first-degree killing after he allegedly shot Gabriel Cuen Butimea, 48, an illegal immigrant, Fox News reported. The Daily Mail reports that the migrant had been deported several times before he was murdered. reportedThis was most recently seen in 2016.
Kelly tried to get a judge to lower his $1 million bail, or to release Kelly so that his wife could tend to their livestock. But he is still behind bars. Several GoFundMe pages were set up to help raise money for Kelly’s bail, the Mail reported, but they have been shut down by the website, which has a history of deleting fundraisers for certain political causes. GoFundMe cited a policy that prohibits fundraising to aid defendants in criminal cases. “violent crimes,” And removed fundraisers to Kyle Rittenhouse.
