GOP letting Democrats ‘cut their own throat’ with nomination fight: Tuberville
Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) said his party intends to let their Democratic colleagues “cut their own throat” as it relates to speculation that President Joe Biden could end his presidential candidacy.
“It’s unfortunate for Joe Biden. He’s sick. Nobody can help that. People do get old,” the Alabama senator acknowledged during a Sunday morning interview on Fox News Sunday. “We’re just going to stay out of their way and let ’em cut their own throat, to be honest with you. It’s a disaster.”
Biden frequently faced questions and concerns about his age and mental acuity following several gaffes and senior moments over his presidency, though his debate performance heightened those concerns to a level previously unmet. Since the debate, questions have swirled about whether he should remain on the ticket for November’s election, or if the party would be better suited if he stepped aside.
A handful of House Democrats have called on him to step down, while other members of the party have defended the president and continue to support him.
Biden, at 81, is the oldest president in U.S. history, and if reelected, he would serve until the age of 86. Trump, at 78, would serve until the age of 82 if he wins.

Tuberville claimed without evidence that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), former President Barack Obama, and current senior administration officials are secretly coordinating policy decisions and not Biden.
The Alabama senator predicted Vice President Kamala Harris would ultimately lead the Democratic ticket, though he declined to speculate as to who her running mate could be.
