Several governors are calling their National Guard troops to return home after being stationed in Washington D.C.
On Friday, governors from New Hampshire, Florida, Montana and Texas gave orders to pull their guardsmen and women out of the U.S. Capitol after reports emerged that troops were being forced to take their breaks in parking garages.
Last night, I ordered our Adjutant General to bring Florida National Guard soldiers home from the National Capital Region.

Roughly 20,000 troops from a number of states were deployed to D.C. to secure the city during the week of the inauguration. However, in recent days, Democrats have come under immense backlash after the poor treatment of National Guard troops came to light.
With their mission complete, I have instructed Adjutant General Hronek to bring our @GuardMontana soldiers home.

I’ve ordered the immediate return of all New Hampshire National Guard from Washington DC. They did an outstanding job serving our nation’s capital in a time of strife and should be graciously praised, not subject to substandard conditions. @NHNationalGuard

Because of this, a number of Republican lawmakers are firing off.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy called it “shameful,” especially when troops are there to protect lawmakers.
McCarthy blamed Democrats for kicking out the troops, citing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s’ previous comments on the National Guard. He added the troops “deserve to be treated with respect and we deserve answers.”
Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Schumer—why are American troops who are tasked with keeping security at the Capitol being forced to sleep in a parking lot?

Additionally, Rep. Michael Waltz (R-Fla.) weighed in on the excessive National Guard presence in the nation’s capital.
Waltz, who also serves as a National Guard Colonel, said he would like to see the justification for having “five times” as many troops in D.C. as we do in Afghanistan and Iraq. The GOP representative even went as far as to accuse House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of using the National Guard as a private police force.
We still need answers as to why the National Guard were forced out into the cold while Nancy Pelosi demands their presence on the Capitol Hill.
What is the threat reporting that demands far more troops than we have in Afghanistan and Iraq combined? pic.twitter.com/nZVzhzxixt

Waltz pointed out that for many of these troops, this isn’t their day job as they have small businesses, jobs and families they have to be away from while stationed on Capitol Hill.
In the meantime, new theories about the January 6 Capitol riots continue to emerge.
Stanford researcher and inventor Jovan Hutton Pulitzer shared a video on Facebook, which suggested the attack on the Capital was orchestrated by insiders.
Pulitzer said despite those saying the siege was not planned, he believes it was in the works for months. He added that insiders worked on the plan and even had people on the ground to direct the bad actors.
In the meantime, despite the demanded removal of some state guardsmen, 7,000 are expected to stay at the Capitol through the first week of February and possibly into March.
