GOP Presidential Hopeful Responds to Possible Donald Trump Arrest: ‘Dark Moment’

Vivek Ramaswamy, a Republican presidential candidate and tech entrepreneur, has described rumors and reports of a possible arrest of former President Donald Trump as a “dark moment” in American history.

He wrote on Twitter on Saturday, “It is un-American for the ruling party to use police power to arrest its political rivals. If a Republican prosecutor in 2004 had used a campaign finance technicality to arrest then-candidate John Kerry while Bush & Cheney were in power, liberals would have cried foul—and rightly so.”

Ramaswamy also said, “This will mark a dark moment in American history and will undermine public trust in our electoral system itself. I call on the Manhattan District Attorney to reconsider this action and to put aside partisan politics in service of preserving our Constitutional republic.”

Later, he called on former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who recently announced her Republican presidential run, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is also reportedly considering running for the presidency, to denounce Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan District Attorney supposedly behind the alleged prospective indictment.

Former Vice President Mike Pence criticized Bragg, who reportedly received $1 million from left-wing billionaire George Soros’ Color for Change political action committee, for wanting to indict Trump during this surge of violent crime in New York City.

Despite reports, Bragg’s office has not publicly confirmed whether Trump will be indicted. Anonymous court sources told various news outlets that the arrest would be related to Trump’s alleged payment of $130,000 to adult actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 campaign.

Trump fiercely criticized Democrats and Bragg in response to the reports. The former president said that “illegal leaks” from the “corrupt & highly political” Manhattan DA’s office indicate that he will be arrested on March 21.

“Protest, take our nation back!” Trump urged his supporters on Truth Social.
