GOP Rep. Greg Steube blames Biden Admin for escalating Middle East tensions.

The Growing Dangers‍ of⁣ Biden’s Foreign Policy

The ongoing⁤ Israel-Hamas‍ conflict and recent drone attacks targeting U.S. troops in Iraq are just two examples of the escalating threats that Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.) attributes to President Joe Biden’s foreign policy.

On October 7, Hamas gunmen breached ⁤the⁣ Israel-Gaza barrier, resulting in the deaths of hundreds⁤ of people in southern Israel and the abduction of around 200 individuals to Gaza. This ⁢initial attack has now evolved into a larger conflict, with Israel ⁢launching retaliatory air strikes on Gaza and ⁢making preparations for ⁣a potential ground assault.

Meanwhile, on October 18, U.S. troops stationed in Iraq were targeted by multiple drone attacks. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that two of the‌ drones were destroyed and‍ a third was damaged, ⁤resulting in “minor injuries” ⁣to coalition‌ personnel⁣ in western Iraq.

CENTCOM has ⁤not yet attributed the drone attacks in Iraq to any specific group, but Rep. Steube firmly believes that Iranian-backed militia units are responsible for these assaults on U.S. service members.

“I can guarantee ⁤you those are Iranian-backed Militia units ⁤that are attacking our service members,”⁤ Mr. Steube told NTD News’ “Capitol Report” on Thursday.

Having served in the U.S. Army himself, Rep.⁤ Steube, along with other Republican lawmakers, blames the Biden⁤ administration for emboldening Iran ⁢and contributing to the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

While Israeli and U.S. officials have not yet identified specific evidence of Iran’s‍ involvement in the Hamas attacks, Iranian officials did celebrate the assaults.

Some Republican lawmakers suggest that Iran may ⁤have been motivated to support the Hamas attacks after the Biden administration authorized the transfer of $6 billion in frozen Iranian assets back to Iran as part of a prisoner exchange. The Biden administration released five Iranian nationals held in the U.S. in exchange‍ for the release of five U.S. citizens held in Iran.

The Biden‌ administration maintains that the $6 billion in unfrozen Iranian assets were still in the transfer process and that Iran had not utilized any of the funds at the time of the Hamas attacks. However, some Republicans argue that Iran could have diverted other funds to finance the attacks, expecting to replenish their coffers once the $6 billion transfer was complete. Both Democrat and Republican lawmakers are now pushing ‌to claw back the ⁢unfrozen Iranian funds ⁢following the ⁣October ⁣7 attacks.

“It’s not a coincidence that weeks after [the Biden administration] ⁤released $6⁣ billion, that these attacks from ⁣Hamas were⁢ backed by the Iranians in Israel,” Mr. Steube ⁣insisted. “None of this is a⁤ coincidence. This is all because of the horrible foreign policy⁤ decisions of this President and his administration.”

Rep. Steube urges the Biden administration to reimpose certain sanctions against Iran and refreeze the $6 billion in Iranian assets agreed upon in ‌the prisoner swap.

According to Mr. Steube, under⁣ former President Donald Trump’s leadership, the current unrest in the Middle East and other regions would not be occurring. He believes that the Trump administration projected strength, while the Biden administration has attempted to “appease‍ terrorists.”

The House ⁢Speaker Contest

Republican lawmakers are expressing support for increased aid to Israel and have proposed legislation to reclaim the⁤ $6 billion in unfrozen Iranian funds following the Hamas attacks. However, with the current vacancy in the House ⁤speakership, the Republican-controlled House faces limited legislative options.

Initially, a majority of the House Republican Conference nominated Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) for the speakership, but he withdrew‍ his name due⁤ to opposition from other party members. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) has also made ‌a bid for the speakership ⁢but has failed to secure enough support in House floor votes.

Rep. Steube reveals that⁤ some top Republicans are considering keeping Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) as a speaker pro tempore for an extended period, granting⁢ him expanded powers‍ without officially electing him as speaker.

“I think that is woefully unconstitutional. I think it’d be ‍a horrible idea to move forward with that. You would have a speaker acting with speaker powers who hasn’t been elected speaker. I anticipate voting against⁣ this, and I believe ⁤the majority of my conference will do the ⁢same,” Mr. Steube stated. “The only way this could happen is if Democrats join with establishment Republicans to empower a speaker who should not have those powers.”

Although Rep. Steube supported Mr. Jordan’s bid for the speakership, he remains⁢ opposed to ‍expanding the powers of a speaker pro tempore.

Why are Democrat and Republican lawmakers pushing to claw ‌back the unfrozen Iranian funds, ‌and how would this contribute to restoring stability in the region

Er⁣ threats were largely contained due to the tough stance taken against Iran. However, he argues that‌ President Biden’s foreign policy approach has weakened the United States’⁢ position ‌and emboldened its adversaries.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has reached new levels of violence, with Hamas gunmen breaching the Israel-Gaza barrier and causing the deaths of hundreds of people in southern Israel. This initial attack has escalated into a⁢ larger conflict, with Israel launching retaliatory airstrikes ⁤on Gaza and making preparations for a potential ⁤ground assault. The situation has been further exacerbated by the recent⁤ drone attacks targeting U.S. troops in ⁢Iraq. While‍ the U.S. Central Command has not yet ‍attributed these attacks to any specific group, Rep. ⁣Steube firmly believes that Iranian-backed militia units are responsible.

He believes that these actions would send a strong message to ‍Iran‌ and help restore stability in the region.

The growing dangers⁣ of Biden’s foreign policy are a cause for concern. The escalating threats⁢ in the Israel-Hamas⁢ conflict ‌and the⁣ recent drone attacks targetting U.S. troops highlight the⁢ consequences of a weakened U.S.⁣ position in the⁤ Middle East. Rep. Steube’s assertions about Iran’s involvement and the⁤ potential misuse of unfrozen funds serve ‌as a wake-up⁤ call for the Biden administration to reassess its approach and take ‌decisive action to protect the interests⁤ of the United States and its allies.

It ‍is crucial for the Biden administration to reestablish a strong and firm stance against Iran. By reimposing sanctions and refreezing the ⁢assets, the United States can demonstrate its commitment to regional stability and‌ protect its national security interests. Only through decisive actions can the dangers of Biden’s foreign ⁤policy be mitigated, and the United States regain its⁤ position as a trusted and influential global leader.
