GOP Rep Makes Shocking Allegation About Secret Service’s Handling of White House Cocaine Bag
Republican Rep. Tim Burchett Slams Secret Service Over White House Cocaine Investigation
Republican Rep. Tim Burchett of Tennessee has criticized the Secret Service for hastily closing its investigation into the origins of the cocaine found in the White House over the Fourth of July weekend. Burchett suggested that the service had “destroyed the bag,” raising questions about their handling of the case.
In an interview on Newsmax’s “The Chris Salcedo Show,” Burchett expressed his concerns about the Secret Service’s actions. He pointed out that they initially claimed they didn’t find enough DNA, but later changed their statement to say they found no DNA at all. Burchett questioned why they would destroy the bag and potentially destroy any chance of obtaining DNA evidence.
Burchett, who served as the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, from 2010 to 2018, drew a comparison to how a similar situation would have been handled during his tenure. He explained that law enforcement would have been called, hazmat suits would have been worn, and the drugs would have been sealed in an evidence bag and sent to a lab for DNA analysis.
“That’s exactly what [the Secret Service] should have done here. They should have taken it to Quantico and analyzed it. But instead, they destroyed the bag,” Burchett emphasized.
The congressman, a member of the House Oversight Committee, did not provide an explanation for his claim that the bag had been destroyed.
Secret Service Investigation and Security Lapses
The Secret Service closed its investigation into the cocaine bag on July 13. The bag was discovered near the Situation Room in the West Wing of the White House while President Joe Biden and his family were away at Camp David for the holiday weekend.
In a baffling report, the Secret Service stated that they could not find any usable fingerprints or DNA on the bag. They also revealed that the security video footage did not identify who left the bag in the White House.
These security “lapses” raise concerns about the vulnerability of the White House and its potential as a soft target for an easy presidential assassination.
Burchett’s Criticism of Republicans and Government Accountability
Burchett also criticized some Republicans who he believes are aiding Democrats in covering up the Biden administration’s incompetence and corruption.
“We have some [GOP] members that don’t have any guts, frankly, and it ticks me off,” Burchett expressed. He called for accountability and suggested cutting funding to government agencies like the IRS, the Pentagon, and the Department of Justice when they engage in wrongdoing.
