Jim Jordan Wins GOP Nomination for Speaker of the House
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan emerged victorious in the race for Speaker of the House of Representatives on Friday. His primary competitor, Majority Leader Steve Scalise, withdrew from the race.
Jordan, who has represented Ohio’s 4th Congressional District since 2007, secured the nomination with a secret ballot victory of 124 to 81. Republican Rep. Austin Scott of Georgia also entered the race, but received a smaller portion of the votes.

The House Republican Conference, holding a narrow majority of four seats, will need nearly unanimous support for Jordan in order for him to be elected as the speaker.
Jordan has not yet responded to requests for comment.
