GOP senator accuses Harris of lying, not flip-flopping, on record – Washington Examiner
In a recent interview on Fox News, Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) accused Vice President Kamala Harris of being dishonest about her political positions as the 2024 presidential election approaches. Schmitt claimed that rather than changing her views, Harris is “lying” to voters about her record. He criticized her stance on immigration and suggested that her current policies contradict her past actions, labeling her as “the most radical candidate.” He encouraged former President Donald Trump to continue challenging Harris on these issues to appeal to voters. Schmitt also described Trump as a “change candidate,” positioning him favorably for the upcoming election, which he characterizes as one centered on change.

Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) argued Vice President Kamala Harris has not changed her view on numerous policies and is “lying” to voters ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
There are six weeks left before Election Day, with Schmitt encouraging former President Donald Trump to “keep hammering” the vice president on the issues voters care about. The Missouri senator claimed Harris is “the most radical candidate,” citing how her political record, such as supporting “true open borders amnesty,” goes against her new policies as a presidential candidate.
“So she’s not flip-flopping, Laura. She’s just lying,” Schmitt said on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle. “She’s got two things that she’s doing right now. One is sort of scripted stuff with the teleprompter, and the other is unintelligible word salads like we saw with Oprah Winfrey. It’s embarrassing for her. That’s why they keep her off.”
Schmitt also contended that the former president is viewed by many as “a change candidate,” which will help him due to the 2024 election being “a change election.” He also argued that Trump is doing better in this election cycle than in his first run for president in 2016.
Schmitt then said he is “not at all” surprised over Harris getting the endorsements of over 700 national security officials, arguing that “permanent Washington” wants Harris to be president while “normal Americans” want Trump back in the White House.
Ahead of the election, a new CBS News-YouGov poll found that Harris has gained some ground on voters who view the economy as the biggest issue. Forty-seven percent of those polled said they support Harris, compared to 43% who said the same last month.
A majority of respondents in the poll, 59%, still said the economy is very or fairly bad, while 39% said the economy is very or fairly good.
