GOP Senator Open to Considering ‘No Labels’ Third Party Ticket
Senator Bill Cassidy Open to Joining No Labels Presidential Ticket
Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) expressed his openness to considering being on or supporting the presidential ticket for the No Labels political organization. In an appearance on NBC News’s “Meet the Press” with host Chuck Todd, Cassidy stated that his decision would depend on the Republican and Democrat nominees.
When asked about a hypothetical rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, Cassidy replied, “If they came and spoke to me, I would certainly speak to them back.” Although he has not spoken with No Labels about a potential run, Cassidy stated that he would be “open” to the idea.
Concerns have been raised by some Democrats that a third-party bid by No Labels could unintentionally lead to a Trump victory. However, the organization presents itself as an anti-Trump alternative to GOP donors.
Cassidy highlighted the desire for something different among the American people, stating, “Seventy percent of the American people want something different. Plausibly, we could have a setting in which someone has been convicted and someone else shows signs of mental decline so significant 70% of the American people are already thinking he’s too old.”

Concerns About Biden’s Health and Mental State
Cassidy criticized President Biden for not being “transparent” with the American people regarding his health and mental state. He emphasized the need for the electorate to be informed about Biden’s health, stating, “With this, should there be another option for the American people? And, I think plausibly there should be.” A recent Wall Street Journal poll revealed that 73% of registered voters believed the president was “too old to run for president.”
Cassidy, a former Democrat, has been serving as a Republican Senator since 2014. He was one of the seven Republican Senators who voted to convict Trump during his second impeachment. While he stated that he would vote for “a Republican” if Trump were the nominee, he also expressed his belief that the former president should drop out of the race. Cassidy mentioned the possibility of writing in a Republican candidate.
No Labels aims to create a “Unity ticket” as an “insurance plan” if the Democrat and Republican parties nominate candidates who are not favored by the majority of Americans. The organization seeks to appeal to the politically homeless.
The group’s founding chairman, Joe Lieberman, announced plans for a party convention in Dallas, Texas, in April 2024, but only if they believe they have a “realistic chance to win.”
