GOP senators are questioning the DOJ about a perceived omission in the Biden documents report

A Pair of Senate Republicans Demand Answers from DOJ Leaders Regarding Omission in Special Counsel’s Report on President Joe Biden

In a letter unveiled ‌on ⁣Monday, Senators Chuck Grassley ⁣(R-IA) and Ron Johnson (R-WI) called on Attorney General Merrick Garland, FBI Director⁣ Christopher Wray, and special counsel Robert Hur to explain a “significant factual omission” in Hur’s report on President Joe Biden’s ⁣handling of classified documents.

The senators specifically questioned the lack ‍of mention in the report regarding nine boxes of materials ⁢that were allegedly retrieved from the Boston office of one of Biden’s personal attorneys. The National Archives and‍ Records Administration (NARA) had previously stated that the FBI had reviewed these boxes almost a year ago.

“[W]e publicly revealed last year that NARA had retrieved nine boxes of Biden records from the Boston office of Patrick Moore, one of‌ Biden’s personal counsels,” the⁣ senators said. “Oddly, Special Counsel Hur’s report did not mention NARA’s retrieval of the⁣ nine boxes from Mr. Moore’s office ‌… [I]t is unclear if Special Counsel Hur had any awareness of or reviewed the information contained in these nine boxes.”

The letter, ⁣dated Friday, was sent a day after the release of Hur’s report, which⁣ criticized Biden’s‌ handling of classified documents. While no charges were recommended, the report⁣ highlighted Biden’s ⁣memory problems, suggesting they would make it difficult for a jury to convict the president.

Although Hur briefly mentioned how Moore’s office served as a repository for Biden’s political materials, the senators noted that the report failed to address the nine boxes in question.

Grassley and Johnson have been in contact with NARA, ⁢which informed them in March of last year that the nine boxes had been retrieved⁣ from the Boston office at the request of the Justice Department. NARA⁣ also confirmed that the FBI had reviewed the contents of the ⁢boxes as of March 2023 and would conduct a review‌ for any sought-after records containing⁢ pseudonyms or personal email addresses used for official government business.

“DOJ, FBI, and the Special Counsel’s office owe Congress and the American people a complete explanation regarding this apparent omission in Special Counsel Hur’s report, a detailed description of the contents of the ‍nine boxes, ⁢and what was done with them,” Grassley and Johnson wrote.

The senators posed several questions in their letter and requested a response by February 23. The Daily Wire has⁣ reached out to the DOJ ⁢and FBI for comment.

What actions are Senators ⁣Grassley and Johnson urging the Department of Justice to take to address the concerns raised about the handling of classified information by President Biden and his associates

Nistration (NARA) had informed the senators ‍that these materials were classified as federal‌ records‍ and were subsequently removed from the Boston office ‍under investigative purposes.

Grassley and Johnson expressed ‍their concern‌ that the omission of this crucial information from ‌Hur’s report raises questions about the thoroughness and transparency⁢ of the investigation into President Biden’s handling of classified documents. They argued that such a ⁣significant omission ⁣undermines the credibility of the report and calls into question the impartiality of the Special Counsel’s Office.

The senators highlighted the importance of holding public officials accountable for their actions, particularly in relation to the mishandling of classified information. They emphasized that no one should be exempt from scrutiny, regardless of their political position or party affiliation. In order to ensure public trust in the justice system,⁣ the senators believe it is imperative that any omissions or discrepancies in investigative reports are addressed and rectified.

Grassley and Johnson urged ‍Attorney General‍ Garland, FBI Director Wray, and special counsel Hur to provide⁤ an explanation for the omission⁤ of the information regarding the ⁢retrieved materials from ⁢Biden’s attorney’s‍ office. They⁤ demanded a detailed account of the investigative procedures followed, including any‌ interviews conducted, evidence examined, and explanations for the omission. Additionally,⁤ they requested a clarification on whether any other potentially relevant⁤ information was omitted from ⁤the report.

The senators ⁣stressed that the American people deserve a full and transparent account of the investigation, highlighting‍ that credibility and trust in the institutions of justice are essential for maintaining⁢ a functioning democracy. They called on the Department of Justice (DOJ) to take immediate action to ⁣address the concerns raised⁣ by their letter and to conduct a thorough review of the handling of classified information by President ‌Biden and his associates.

In conclusion, Senators Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson have demanded answers from DOJ leaders regarding a significant omission in the Special Counsel’s report on President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents. They expressed concerns about the thoroughness and transparency of the investigation, calling for explanations and a ⁤rectification⁤ of the omission. The senators emphasized the importance⁣ of accountability ⁣and the need to ⁢address any discrepancies to uphold public trust in the justice system.
