Gov Abbott Tells Immigrants: “You’re Picking the Wrong State”
Greg Abbott, Texas Governor, participated in a roundtable discussion about the Rio Grande Valley’s border crisis on Tuesday. He cautioned illegal immigrants against crossing into the United States from Texas. He acknowledged that he isn’t satisfied with the situation. The penalties for smugglers. Many social media posts can be used to recruit smugglers in order to transport illegal immigrants to cities just hours from the border.
“If you’re coming toward the United States of America and you’re thinking about crossing our border, and you’re thinking about making your border crossing into the state of Texas, you’re picking the wrong state to enter into,” The governor spoke. “We’re going to do everything we can to keep you out of our border, to keep you out of our country.”
Abbott wants to make a change by imposing a minimum 10-year sentence on anyone who smuggles illegal immigrant into the U.S.A in Texas.
Abbott pointed out that the Texas border crossings were the lowest they had been in decades three years ago during the roundtable discussion. He gave credit to Trump’s actions. Trump stopped the practice of catch and release. He implemented Title 42 at CDC’s recommendation. He began to build a wall along the border and encouraged legal immigration to the United States. Compare that to Biden’s actions, and you will see how he created. A border crisis. Biden ended all programs and agreements that helped secure the southern border. He even gave migrants the opportunity to cross, legal or not. He invited everyone to come and they all listened. Biden believed it was a grand gesture of humanitarian support, but the truth is that the Biden Border Crisis is both a national security and humanitarian crisis.
The governor referred to statistics that date back to the second week in February and begin in 2020. According to him, 3,985 illegal immigrants were apprehended at Texas’ border during the week of February 12, 2020. Abbott stated that 13,672 illegal immigrants were apprehended in 2021. In 2022, however, 21,560 illegal immigrants were apprehended.
Abbott didn’t hesitate to take a dig at the current president’s border policies, which forced Texas to adopt its own approach to addressing illegal immigration through Texas.
It has been left up to the border states to manage their affairs. Texas is the most affected by its long border with Mexico. Abbott deployed the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas National Guard, and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), to the border to curb illegal immigration crossing. Abbott reported that more then 25,000 of the most violent criminals had been detained. Over 330,000 getaways were apprehended. While this level of success can be commended, the crisis continues to grow due to the Biden administration refusing to do the right thing. Biden refuses travel to Rio Grande Valley, the epicenter of the Biden Border Crisis. His administration also ignores pleas for additional resources for border countries.
Biden’s open border to the south has led to a number of problems. The fentanyl crisis This is the reason for many young people’s deaths. The border is controlled by drug cartels who profit from the pain and suffering of American families.
The governor suggested that if the Texas DPS had not been in place, hundreds of thousands would have been illegal immigrants, causing harm to the country through crime or pushing drugs like fentanyl.
Steve McCraw, chief of Texas DPS, stated Tuesday that his team had seized over 19 tons fentanyl. He added that today’s fentanyl is much more potent than it was in the past. The deadly drug is now being manufactured in factories that use chemicals from China, rather than in hotels.
Governor Abbott appointed Mike Banks as Texas Border Czar. He is a former Border Patrol agent. Kamala Harris, the Biden administration’s former border czar was ineffective so Abbott took action. It is possible to count the number of drugs that are entering the country from legal ports of entry, but it is difficult to track the numbers of drugs that are brought in via gotaways. According to Banks, This is to make Texas less attractive for illegal immigrants.
Biden’s administration is removing the few tools that Texas and other border states have. Abbott said that although aerial balloons are useful in monitoring the border, Biden is now taking them out. The Biden administration will remove the balloons from the border. The number is being reduced From 12 to 4. Title 42 will most likely expire in May. Officials in Texas expect Texas to have up to 18,000 illegal crossings when that happens. One dayThis is more than 6,000,000 a year.
Title 42 was a topic that the Biden administration tried to end, but a federal court ordered has blocked this effort. The Supreme Court was scheduled to consider the case, but it announced last week that the case has been dropped. This decision was made without explanation. According to the Biden administration, that decision could be considered moot as Title 42 will expire in May when COVID-19’s public health emergency ends.
There’s only so much Governor Abbott could do. But, it’s worth applauding for all he did to protect his state. The crisis has not been stopped by increasing penalties and threatening to jail illegal immigrants. We’ll see what Abbott has to say during the current Texas Legislature session.
