Gov. Brian Kemp Responds to Trump’s Claims of Election Fraud in Georgia
Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) took to social media to address the ongoing claims made by former President Donald Trump regarding the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. In a bold statement, Kemp declared, “The 2020 election in Georgia was not stolen.”
Kemp emphasized that despite numerous allegations, no one has come forward with concrete evidence of fraud in a court of law. He reassured the public that Georgia’s elections are secure, accessible, and fair, and will remain so under his leadership as governor.

Trump’s Claims and Kemp’s Response

Trump expressed confidence in the report, stating, “Based on the results of this CONCLUSIVE Report, all charges should be dropped against me & others — There will be a complete EXONERATION!”
In response, Kemp referred to a tweet from Trump’s campaign spokeswoman, Liz Harrington, who accused Georgia of having corrupt elections that have only worsened since 2020. Harrington urged people to tune in to Trump’s press conference on Monday.
A Complicated Relationship
Trump and Kemp have had a complex relationship over the years. While Trump initially supported Kemp during his successful gubernatorial bid in 2018, their alliance soured when Kemp did not fully embrace Trump’s claims of widespread election fraud in Georgia in 2020.
Trump publicly called for Kemp’s resignation, accusing him of obstructing the truth. Kemp, however, maintained his support for the president while emphasizing his commitment to following the laws and the Constitution.
During the 2022 elections, Trump backed a primary challenger to Kemp, but the Georgia governor emerged victorious with an overwhelming 73.7% of the GOP primary vote.
Kemp’s Political Survival
Kemp has been hailed as one of the few Republican leaders who have successfully pushed back against Trump and managed to maintain their political careers. Other examples include Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) and Gov. Kim Reynolds (R-IA), who have navigated the complexities of dealing with Trump.
Despite their rocky relationship, Kemp did not rule out endorsing Trump in the 2024 elections. In a recent interview, he indicated that he would support the 2024 Republican nominee, even if it were Trump.
