Governor Healey dismisses seriousness of teenage rape by illegal border crosser: “Things will happen
Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey’s Controversial Stance on Border Crisis
Massachusetts Democrat Gov. Maura Healey appears to be concerned about the impact of the Southern border crisis on her state. However, when confronted about preventing violent crimes by illegal border crossers, her response raises eyebrows.
Recently, Cory Alvarez, a 26-year-old Haitian national who entered the U.S. illegally, was arrested for allegedly assaulting and raping a disabled teen at a migrant shelter in Rockland, Massachusetts.
Alvarez’s journey to the U.S. wasn’t on his own; he benefitted from a taxpayer-funded flight from Haiti to New York City under the Biden Administration’s CHNV program. This program allows thousands of individuals from certain countries to enter the U.S. monthly.
Healey’s Troubling Response
Initially expressing horror at Alvarez’s alleged actions, Healey stated her condolences for the victim. However, when pressed on how to prevent such incidents in the future, her stance seemed indifferent.
“We have security and systems in place, we have vetting in place. It is unfortunate that, you know, from time to time, things will happen,” Healey remarked.
Healey’s failure to push for stricter border control measures to avert such crimes is concerning. Instead of addressing the need to secure the border, she implied that unfortunate incidents like these are inevitable.
Political Maneuvering Amidst Crisis
Healey’s response reflects broader political narratives surrounding the border crisis. While acknowledging challenges faced by states like Massachusetts due to the influx of illegal immigrants, she largely deflects blame from Democratic policies.
Pointing fingers at the lack of bipartisan cooperation and citing past decisions made by the Trump administration, Healey sidesteps the urgency to address the current border security predicament.
There is a troubling trend of preventable crimes committed by individuals entering the U.S. illegally, particularly under the less stringent border policies since President Biden assumed office. These lapses in security, vetting, and enforcement have allowed criminals to enter the country unchecked.
Healey’s nonchalant attitude towards preventing such crimes appears to downplay the severity of the situation and sidesteps the responsibility to protect citizens from harm.
