Graham and Kennedy Push for Designation of Mexican Drug Cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations

Lindsey Graham (Republican-States.C.) & John Kennedy (Republican-La.). Sens. Lindsey G. Graham (Republican-States.C.) & John Kennedy (Republican-La.) spoke out about the necessity of declaring Mexican drug cartels Foreign Terrorist Organizations and authorizing the U.S. military’s retaliation.

In their March 8th debate, the senators presented arguments press briefing They are responsible for thousands of deaths each year in America and the United States should take urgent action to prevent them.

“Drug cartels in Mexico have been terrorizing Americans for decades. We’re going to destroy their business model and their lifestyle because our national security … depends on us.”

Proposed bill would also include: Senile Cartel; Jalisco New Generation Cartel; Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas in FTO designation.

Kennedy and Graham claim that this designation would enable the U.S. military wipe out these cartels and make it more expensive for other countries to do any business with them.

A statement was also made by the two men that they believed the US would have the ability to sue foreign corporations for supporting the cartels.

Graham pointed out that the law enforcement can bring Chinese chemical firms with ties to cartels to court in America to face trial.

Sen. John McCain and Robert Menendez argue that the cartels were driven by fentanyl. Because of the drug’s killing power, they should consider the opioid as a weapon against mass destruction.

“Here’s what I hope will happen: we’re going to terrorize the terrorists,” Graham said. “If you get on the cell phone, it may be the last call you make.

“Terrorists are committed to their cause and live in caves. Narco-terrorists have mansions in open areas, and they own expensive cars. We are able to find out where you live and how much you earn.”

The lawmaker outlined his plan in categorizing the cartels as terrorists.

“My aim is to keep you awake at night. That the cost of doing business—when it comes to poisoning America—goes up. That’s when you try to get someone to join your cartel, they’ll say ‘no, thank you, the last guy got killed or went to jail.’

“Until you do that, nothing’s going to change.”

Graham claimed that Mexico was a safe haven for cartels. Senators counter that Mexico has been a magnet for them. “narco-state.”

They appealed to President Joe Biden as well Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador for action and support in eradicating the cartels.

“We’re not going to sit on the sidelines and watch our neighbor become a narco-state that kills more Americans every year than we lost in Vietnam,” Graham said.

Kennedy and Graham hope the bill will be supported by both parties and the United States and Mexico can cooperate to end organized crime in Mexico.
