The annual gathering of musicians at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday was a venue for several stars, including Alicia Keys, Shakira, Chappell Roan, and Lady Gaga, to air left-wing political views during their award acceptance speeches.
Colombian singer Shakira used her Best Latin Pop Album speech to share support for immigrants in the United States.
“I want to dedicate this award to all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country,” the 48-year-old singer said as she accepted the Grammy for her album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.

“You are loved,” she continued. “You are worth it. And I will always fight with you.”
She did not mention the newly inaugurated President Donald Trump, but her remarks referenced how his administration has been tackling the influx of illegal immigrants in the country. Colombian President Gustavo Petro and Trump sparred last week about a possible 25% tariff on incoming Colombian goods and eventually reached a deal about accepting deportation flights.
The View co-host Ana Navarro cheered Shakira for defending “our community.”
“More people need to lose the fear and do what Shakira did last night,” she said Monday.

“This is not the time to shut down a diversity of voices. We’ve seen on this stage talented, hardworking people from different backgrounds with different points of view, and it changes the game,” Keys said.
“DEI is not a threat. It’s a gift,” she added. “And the more voices, the more powerful the sound.”
“When destructive forces try to burn us down, we rise from the ashes like a phoenix. And as you see tonight, music is the unstoppable language that connects us all. It’s so beautiful,” Keys said. “So let’s keep showing up with compassion, with empathy, what I call soul care. Keep opening the doors, the dreams of the world as it ought to be.”
Keys took a shot at Trump’s executive orders that abolished DEI in federal offices. Trump has also slammed DEI for the problems happening at the Federal Aviation Administration in the wake of a plane crashing with an Army helicopter.
Lady Gaga spoke out Sunday after winning the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with Bruno Mars for their song, “Die With a Smile.”

Trump recently signed an executive order barring transgender military members.
Singer Chappell Roan also used her acceptance speech for Best New Artist to lecture record companies about the “living wage” and health insurance for artists.

“Record labels need to treat their artists as valuable employees with a livable wage and health insurance and protection,” Roan said.

“I told myself, if I ever won a Grammy and I got to stand up here in front of the most powerful people in music, I would demand that labels and the industry profiting millions of dollars off of artists would offer a livable wage and healthcare, especially to developing artists,” she continued.
