Grassley queries media’s oversight on Biden family bribery claims.
Sen. Chuck Grassley: Media Fails to Ask Crucial Questions on FBI and DOJ Investigation into Biden Family Bribery Allegations
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) criticized media outlets for neglecting to ask important questions regarding the FBI and the Justice Department’s handling of the investigation into Biden family bribery allegations. Grassley expressed concerns that the information may have been swept under the rug.
Grassley made these remarks during a Senate floor discussion about the FD-1023 form, which he recently released. The form contained allegations that President Joe Biden and his son Hunter pressured Burisma co-founder and CEO Mykola Zlochevsky into paying them millions of dollars in exchange for influencing the Ukrainian government to fire prosecutor Viktor Shokin.
“Much of the media’s reporting has missed the essential question,” Grassley said. “That essential question is this: Did the Justice Department and the FBI follow normal investigative process and procedures to run the information down or did they sweep this information under the rug?”
Grassley also criticized the government for redacting key information from the FD-1023 when providing it to the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability. This included references to alleged audio recordings and text messages that could have provided evidence of the criminal act. Grassley called these redactions obstructive conduct by the United States.
The senator emphasized that his main goal is to hold the DOJ and the FBI accountable for their actions.
According to the FD-1023, Zlochevsky allegedly told the FBI’s confidential human source (CHS) that he had paid “5 (million) to one Biden, and 5 (million) to another” during a meeting in August 2016. This payment was understood to be related to dealing with Shokin.
An addendum to the report from June 2020 revealed that Zlochevsky claimed to have ”17 recordings” of his interactions, including two with Joe Biden and fifteen with Hunter Biden.
