Greg Gutfeld faces career sabotage attempts weekly, but remains undeterred.
The King of Late Night: Greg Gutfeld on Cancel Culture and Sharing the Risk
Greg Gutfeld, the sharp-witted co-host of “The Five” and host of “Gutfeld!”, recently shared his thoughts on cancel culture and the attacks he faces on a daily basis. In a conversation on the “Rubin Report,” Gutfeld discussed the irony of being left alone on his own show, while facing constant scrutiny on “The Five.”
Gutfeld humorously compared his critics to students auditing a class, hoping to catch the professor making a mistake. He revealed that he faces deliberate attempts to destroy his career at least once a week, but he refuses to let that stop him.
“I would assume that at least once a week there is somebody deliberately trying to destroy my career, but I can’t let that stop me.”
Gutfeld, who has firsthand experience with cancel culture, expressed a sentiment shared by many conservatives. Every time they express their opinions or challenge false narratives, they take a risk. Cancel culture has become a shadow monster, causing conservatives to hesitate before speaking their minds.
But Gutfeld believes that the only way to fight this encroachment on free speech is by sharing the risk. He emphasized that if someone gets canceled, there is always another way out, and they will rise above it. He cited examples like Jason Aldean, whose song reached number one after being targeted by a slander campaign.
“Here’s the thing… when you see that somebody is trying to pull a fast one on you, that’s worthy enough to call it out and to avoid them. And then, when you see someone who’s being unfairly targeted, that is when you share the risk.”
Gutfeld referred to this phenomenon as the “Jason Aldean effect,” where conservatives rally behind those who are unjustly attacked. The success of boycotts against Bud Light and Target, as well as the support for Aldean’s music after being pulled off CMT, has shown conservatives the power of standing together.
When conservatives share the risk, they also share the reward. By supporting those who are unfairly targeted, they can make a difference and push back against cancel culture.
So, let’s join Greg Gutfeld in embracing the “Jason Aldean effect” and standing up for free speech.
