Although the tweet has been removed from Twitter, photos of the post with a stamp and time stamps have been circulated. The Associated Press Thunberg confirmed that he did indeed delete the tweet.
She also linked to an article that no longer exists. However, copies of the archived article are still available.
The headline of the article read: “Top Climate Scientist: Humans Will Go Extinct if We Don’t Fix Climate Change by 2023.”
Thunberg’s decision to delete the post is not clear and she has not responded.
The Associated Press Fact-checked several reports regarding the tweet’s deletion and claimed they are “missing context.”
It is explained that neither Thunberg nor Thunberg, the scientist who paraphrased the article, claimed that humanity would end in 2023.
James Anderson, an atmospheric chemistry professor at Harvard University, said in 2018 that it would be impossible to reverse climate change if there is not drastic action taken by 2023.
Thunberg quoted the article, along with its embellished lead sentence, and claimed that humanity would be “wiped out” If fossil fuels were not stopped by 2023.
Anderson said that Anderson had told the Associated Press Paraphrase of the article “is a complete fabrication of what I said.”
