Gwyneth Paltrow: Covid Lockdown So Bad, I Ate Bread, Drank Alcohol
Actress and Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow revealed this week that COVID lockdown restrictions were so bad that she found herself eating bread and pasta.
Paltrow said during a recent interview that she went “totally off the rails,” making signature cocktails every night and eating carbohydrates. “I mean, who drinks multiple drinks seven nights a week?” she said. “Like, that’s not healthy.”
“I drank alcohol during quarantine. I was drinking seven nights a week and making pasta and eating bread. I went totally off the rails,” Gwyneth told the Smartless podcast, as The Mirror reported. “I mean, who drinks multiple drinks seven nights a week? Like that’s not healthy. I love whiskey and I make this fantastic drink called the Buster Paltrow, which I named after my grandfather who loved whiskey sours.
“And it’s this great quinoa whiskey from this distillery in Tennessee with maple syrup and lemon juice. It’s just heaven,” she said. “I would have two of those every night of quarantine.”
Aside from acting, Paltrow is known for her bizarre lifestyle brand Goop, which offers sex toys, candles that “smell” like her “vagina,” and beauty and wellness products.
The 43-year-old reportedly “feels pressured by celebrity wellness gurus moving into her territory.”
“This isn’t about money for Gwyneth – it’s about proving the naysayers wrong,” a source told The Mirror. “That’s what it’s always been about for her.”
COVID restrictions hit Americans across the nation, toppling small businesses, destroying industries, burdening marriages, and adding emotional strain to the already vulnerable.
“Researchers worldwide are investigating the causes and impacts of this stress, and some fear that the deterioration in mental health could linger long after the pandemic has subsided,” Nature.com detailed this year.
“More than 42% of people surveyed by the US Census Bureau in December reported symptoms of anxiety or depression in December, an increase from 11% the previous year,” the site reported. “Data from other surveys suggest that the picture is similar worldwide… Studies and surveys conducted so far in the pandemic consistently show that young people, rather than older people, are most vulnerable to increased psychological distress, perhaps because their need for social interactions are stronger. Data also suggest that young women are more vulnerable than young men, and people with young children, or a previously diagnosed psychiatric disorder, are at particularly high risk for mental-health problems.”
