The Trial that Made Headlines
Gwyneth Paltrow’s trial captured the attention of the media when Terry Sanderson accused her of colliding with him during a 2016 ski crash in Utah. Sanderson claimed the incident caused him lasting brain damage.
According to Sanderson, he suffered a “permanent traumatic brain injury, four broken ribs, pain, suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, emotional distress, and disfigurement.” He also alleged that Paltrow callously left him injured in the snow without seeking help, as previously reported by The Daily Wire.
During the trial, one line from Paltrow went viral when she responded to a question about her losses from the accident, saying, “Well, we lost half a day of skiing.”
Verdict: Not Guilty
In a surprising turn of events, the actress was found not guilty of wrongdoing. The jury determined that Sanderson, 76, was to blame for the crash. The swift verdict, delivered in just two hours and 20 minutes, meant that Sanderson had to pay Paltrow a symbolic $1 in damages and cover her legal costs, which could have amounted to hundreds of thousands of dollars.
