Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley declares she won’t back down from a debate challenge in the 2024 Republican primary. She’s ready to face off against either Donald Trump or Joe Biden, leaving Florida Governor Ron DeSantis out of the equation.
After Trump’s triumphant victory in the Iowa Caucus, Haley’s campaign released a bold statement, challenging Trump to face her in a debate. Despite Trump’s avoidance of previous debates, Haley believes he can no longer hide from her. She eagerly anticipates the next debate, whether it’s with Trump or Biden.
“We’ve had five great debates in this campaign,” the former South Carolina governor said. “Unfortunately, Donald Trump has ducked all of them. He has nowhere left to hide. The next debate I do will either be with Donald Trump or with Joe Biden. I look forward to it.”
In response to Haley’s statement, Governor DeSantis accused her of evading a rematch and claimed that she’s only running to be Trump’s vice president because she’s “afraid of tough questions.”
“The reality is that she is not running for the nomination, she’s running to be Trump’s VP,” DeSantis (R-Fla.) said on X.
Prior to the Iowa Caucus, Haley engaged in a one-on-one debate with DeSantis.
