Republican Presidential Candidate Nikki Haley Raises Over $1 Million in 72 Hours After First GOP Debate
Republican presidential candidate and former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley made a significant impact after the first GOP presidential primary debate, raising over $1 million in less than three days. In an interview with Fox News, Haley expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming response, stating, “We’ve had a fantastic response. I think in the first 72 hours we raised a million dollars. We’ve had thousands of people volunteer. We’ve had a lot of people join the campaign. The phones are still ringing.” She emphasized that this support only motivates her further because there is a country to save.

In early July, Haley’s campaign announced that she had raised $34.3 million since launching her White House bid in February. The second quarter alone brought in $7.3 million, slightly less than the $8.3 million raised in the first quarter.
The debate, held in Wisconsin on Aug. 23, attracted approximately 13 million viewers, despite the absence of former President Donald Trump.
Key Moments from the Debate
During the debate, Nikki Haley had several notable moments. One involved a heated exchange with former Vice President Mike Pence regarding a federal abortion ban. Haley, who identifies as “unapologetically pro-life,” called for “consensus” on the issue, to which Pence responded by saying, “consensus is the opposite of leadership.”
Another intense moment occurred when Haley clashed with businessman Vivek Ramaswamy over the Ukraine war. She accused Ramaswamy of wanting to hand Ukraine to Russia and let China consume Taiwan. Ramaswamy, in response, accused Haley of spreading lies and suggested she was influenced by defense contractors.
When asked about these confrontations, Haley emphasized the importance of debates in allowing the American people to see the candidates and their options. She acknowledged the unpredictability of debate stages and the need to communicate effectively within the given time constraints.
According to a post-debate poll conducted by FiveThirtyEight/Washington Post/Ipsos, Haley experienced the largest increase in support among the candidates, jumping 17 percentage points from 29 percent before the debate to 46 percent afterward. Another post-debate poll by Kaplan Strategies also showed a substantial surge in support for Haley, placing her in fourth place behind President Trump, Ramaswamy, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
‘Axis of Evil’: Haley’s Stance on China and Russia
In a speech at the CrossRidge Center in Indian Land, South Carolina, Nikki Haley addressed the growing threat posed by China and Russia. She referred to the partnership between the two countries as an “axis of evil” and emphasized that China has been planning war with America for years. Haley criticized previous presidents for their misguided belief that being nice to China would lead to its transformation into a democratic nation. She stressed the need for a change in how the United States deals with China, highlighting the importance of protecting American interests.
Haley also expressed her disappointment with President Trump’s approach to China, stating that he did not do enough to address issues beyond unfair trade practices. She criticized his failure to strengthen the military foothold in Asia and prevent the flow of American technology and investment into the Chinese military. Additionally, Haley has been vocal about rolling back President Joe Biden’s green energy policies, which she believes make America more dependent on China.
Highlighting the seriousness of the threats posed by Russia and China, Haley warned that China’s ambitions extend beyond Taiwan and that Russia’s actions in Ukraine could lead to a world war. She emphasized the need for the United States to always be vigilant and take these threats seriously.
