Haley Takes Aim at Trump and ‘Squishy’ Republicans
Haley, a Club for Growth donor retreat said that ‘lots of Republican politicians love to spend and waste taxpayer money almost as much or more than Democrats.
Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley hit out at Donald Trump “squishy” Republican legislators give a speech on Saturday at Club for Growth’s donor retreat.
“Here’s the truth. Lots of Republican politicians love spending and wasting taxpayer money almost as much as Democrats,” Haley said. “The last two Republican presidents added more than $10 trillion to the national debt.”
“Think about that. A third of our debt happened under just two Republicans,” In a jab at Trump and George W. Bush, she said so. “It’s not just our presidents. It’s Congress, too.”
Haley, the ex-South Carolina governor, went too far into populism when she addressed the fiscally conservative, deep-pocketed group. They were behind the Republican holdouts, who temporarily blocked Kevin McCarthy’s win for the House speakership in January.
One day after Trump supporters, her speech at the summit is delivered to donors. heckled Haley attending the Conservative Political Action Conference (Maryland).
Trump was furious with Club for Growth for backing opposing candidates during midterm elections.
“I know there’s a Republican candidate out there who you did not invite to this conference,” Haley spoke to the crowd as Trump’s United Nations ambassador. “I appreciate being one you did invite.”
Haley criticised Republican legislators for supporting COVID-related spending legislation and thanked Club for Growth “supporting primary challenges to squishy Republicans.”
Also, she promised to “fight for term limits in Congress. If the president gets two terms, senators and congressmen shouldn’t get four decades or more.”
Haley also attacked CNN host Don Lemon who was temporarily suspended after saying that the former governor of South Carolina, 51 years old was too old for the network. “in her prime.”
Lemon claimed that women were “feminine” on the air. “considered to be in their prime in 20s and 30s and maybe 40s.”
Haley jokingly said in her speech, “America is not past its prime; and no, Don Lemon, I’m not past mine either.”
“But Joe Biden and too many of our politicians are past theirs,” Elle added. “It’s time for a new generation of leadership.”
At the Club for Growth Summit, Ron DeSantis (Republican presidential candidate) and Mike Pompeo (ex-secretary of State) will also speak.
