Pro-abortion rights advocate Halsey hit back at reports that said the singer “just” got “sick” since giving birth, saying she’s been sick for years but was just called “crazy” and “lazy” while doctors attempted to diagnose her health problems.

On Thursday, the 27-year-old singer responded on Instagram to headlines like “Halsey reveals health diagnosis after giving birth: ‘I was really sick’” and “Halsey is ‘allergic to literally everything’ since giving birth and has been hospitalized multiple times.” She added that she had been going to “doctors for 8 years” trying to “figure out what was wrong.”

“I just want to clarify for the benefit, of friends of friends who may have any of the diagnosis that I recently shared,” the singer, born Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, wrote. “I didn’t ‘just get sick’ I’ve been sick. For a long time. My sicknesses just have their names now. I went to doctors for 8 years.”

“Trying to figure out what was wrong with me,” the star added. “I was called crazy and anxious and lazy amongst other things. I changed my entire lifestyle. When I wasn’t working I was essentially confined to my home for fear of how I’d feel when I woke up each morning.”

“It took me a long time to get to even having a diagnosis, so I’m celebrating,” Halsey continued. “Don’t roll your eyes at your sick friends. They could be fighting a battle that they haven’t named yet. Ya know?”

The “Graveyard” hitmaker previously addressed fans who expressed concern after seeing the singer wearing a heart monitor.

Halsey talked about being allergic to “literally everything” and about getting “really really really sick” since getting pregnant and giving birth.

“I was hospitalized for anaphylaxis a few times,” the singer shared of the potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. “After seeing, like, a hundred thousand doctors, I got diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Sjögren’s syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome, POTS, and I’m still looking for answers to the root cause of some of these things that could potentially be another type of autoimmune disease.”

The singer concluded the post explaining the “treatment plan” the star’s on now, adding that she’s “really excited” for what’s next.

Halsey welcomed a child with screenwriter Alev Aydin in July 2021. It was their first.
