Vice President Kamala Harris‘s campaign is expanding her reach among Hispanic-Americans with a $3 million Spanish-language ad buy. The buy coincides with Hispanic Heritage Month, which begins Sept. 15.

“Hispanic Heritage Month is an important moment to celebrate the richness and diversity of Latino communities across the country,” Harris-Walz campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a press release. “It is also a critical moment for us to leverage, as we continue to reach Latino voters about the stakes of this election, how crucial their vote will be in deciding this race, and defeating Trump and his anti-Latino agenda.”

Chavez-Rodriguez added that the month “will be a key part of our aggressive campaign efforts to make our case to voters about Vice President Harris.”

The effort could be critical to convincing voters in swing states such as Nevada and Arizona, which both have large Hispanic populations. It could also serve to make Florida more competitive too.

Another key part of the initiative is a bilingual phone banking program aiming to educate Hispanic voters about the election and other political content. The campaign will also hold events alongside Rep. Chuy Garcia (D-IL) in Michigan. Chavez Rodriguez hopes to reach 500,000 Hispanic voters in a call-a-thon next month.

Harris and her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), will attend several events in swing states including Mexican Independence Day festivities.

The vice president also plans to speak at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s conference on Sept. 18.
