Harris ramps up media appearances with friendly hosts as Election Day approaches – Washington Examiner

As ⁤Election Day ‌approaches, Vice President Kamala ⁣Harris is increasing her media presence, engaging in a series of interviews with more⁢ favorable and ⁤informal hosts. She is shifting her media strategy by appearing on popular platforms, such as the podcast *Call Her Daddy* ⁣and the show *60 Minutes*,‍ along with a radio interview ⁤with Howard Stern. This marks a departure from her previous⁤ approach, where she and her running mate, Governor Tim Walz, were less visible compared to figures like former President Donald ‍Trump and Senator J.D. Vance, who have maintained a consistent presence in the⁣ media. While the *Call ‍Her Daddy* interview focused‍ on her personal life, the‍ upcoming *60 Minutes* segment is‍ anticipated to tackle policy issues,⁣ signaling a ⁤more direct engagement with voters as⁤ the election⁤ nears.

Harris ramps up media appearances with friendly hosts as Election Day approaches

Vice President Kamala Harris is accelerating the number of interviews she’s sitting down for with less than a month until Election Day.

Harris is reversing course on her media strategy, opting to appear on the Call Her Daddy podcast Sunday, followed by a 60 Minutes interview Monday, and sitting down with Howard Stern for his radio show on Tuesday. Harris and her running mate Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) have been staying away from regular media appearances, compared to former President Donald Trump and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), who have made themselves regular staples with reporters.

While Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper asked questions about Harris’s personal life, the interview with CBS News’s Bill Whitaker is promising to deliver on policy questions. In one excerpt, Whitaker asks the presidential candidate to clarify how she will deliver on her plan to invest in small businesses.

“Well, one of the things is I’m gonna make sure that the richest among us who can afford it pay their fair share in taxes,” Harris said. “It is not right that teachers and nurses and firefighters are paying a higher tax rate than billionaires and the biggest corporations.”

Stern previously hosted President Joe Biden on his show while he was in the race for reelection. It was the first time a sitting president was interviewed on the program, which is only available to subscribers of SiriusXM.

Harris is likely to face a mixture of personal and policy questions from Stern, who generally praised Biden for his efforts during their interview. Stern thanked Biden for his “organized administration post-COVID.”

Harris was criticized by Vance and other Republicans for not sitting down with journalists for an interview for more than a month after she replaced Biden at the top of the ticket. The vice president has slowly ramped up her media appearances since she faced off with Trump in a debate last month.
