Harris slammed by former president for sounding ‘more like Trump than Trump’

Former President Donald Trump is not pleased that Vice President Kamala Harris has echoed his call for getting rid of taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers.

Trump announced his proposal for no tax on tips at a rally in June in Nevada, a state dominated by tipped workers he is trying to win over, and Harris similarly endorsed the policy at her own Nevada rally on Saturday. The former president accused Harris of copying him on multiple topics, arguing that “she sounds more like Trump than Trump” in an early Monday morning post on Truth Social.

“Kamala Harris has flip-flopped on virtually every policy she has supported and lived by for her entire career, from the Border to Tips, and the Fake News Media isn’t reporting it. She sounds more like Trump than Trump, copying almost everything. She is conning the American public, and will flip right back. I will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! There will be no flipping!!!” Trump posted.

The Trump campaign has been critical of Harris’s previous stances on major topics, pointing out her reversals on various policies, including a ban on fracking, a mandatory gun buyback program, and a federal job guarantee. The vice president’s unsuccessful White House run in 2020 saw her position herself in the left wing of the Democratic Party, but in her 2024 campaign, she appears to be painting herself as close to the political center.

As of Monday morning, Harris’s campaign website does not feature a policy plan despite her entering the race more than three weeks ago, when President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed her.

Trump’s campaign has detailed policy positions on his website, including the Republican Party platform, which was adopted at last month’s Republican National Convention and was heavily influenced by the former president. The Democratic Party platform is expected to be adopted at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago next week.
