‘Harry Potter’ TV Series Likely Coming From Warner Bros, J.K. Rowling Will Reportedly Be Involved

Reports suggest that a TV series adaptation of the popular children’s franchise “Harry Potter” is one step closer to becoming a reality with Warner Bros currently in talks to make it happen. The studio reportedly plans to involve creator J.K. Rowling in the production of the series, which has been rumored for years, following the success of the film franchise and its spinoffs that generated more than $9.1 billion in revenue.

HBO Max, previously owned by WarnerMedia, began discussing the possibility of a “Harry Potter” TV series with Kids, Young Adult, and Classics president Tom Ascheim years ago. Ascheim left the company after its merger with Discovery, but the show remained a priority and is expected to reach a deal soon.

Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav, who has been focused on developing existing franchises, is especially interested in the “Harry Potter” series. He has mentioned that Rowling would still be involved despite recent controversies regarding her position on transgender issues.

The move towards a TV series is in contrast to the reaction to the “Hogwart’s Legacy” video game, which was criticized by some transgender activists. Despite this, the game was highly successful, earning over $850 million in just two weeks.

Rowling has caused controversy over the years with her assertions that biological sex is real and for being openly critical of radical transgender activism. She has been labeled a “TERF” (trans-exclusionary radical feminist) by some.
