Harvard Dean and 33 Student Groups Accuse Israel of Causing War
The Dean of Harvard’s Graduate School of Education Blames Both Hamas and the Israeli Government for the Outbreak of War in Israel
In an email to students on Sunday, the dean, Bridget Terry Long, expressed her concerns about the deadly attacks in Israel and the Gaza strip. She pointed out that more than 1,100 people have been killed and hundreds more wounded due to the actions taken by both Hamas and the Israeli government.
However, her email seemed to draw an equivalency between the two parties. On Saturday, a coalition of 33 Harvard student groups released a statement blaming Israel for provoking Hamas’s mass terrorist attack. They held the Israeli regime entirely responsible for the unfolding violence, referring to it as an ”apartheid regime.”
“We, the undersigned student organizations, hold the Israeli regime entirely responsible for all unfolding violence,” said the Harvard Palestine Solidarity Committee letter.
This statement, along with the dean’s email, raises concerns about the increase in antisemitism on Harvard’s campus. Last year, the student newspaper endorsed the anti-Israel boycott movement, and a student group even compared Israel to Nazi Germany during a demonstration.
The statement from the coalition of student groups included signatures from various organizations, such as Harvard Jews for Liberation and the Harvard Muslim Law Students Association. Harvard Jews for Liberation describes itself as a space for anti-Zionist and non-Zionist Jews, as well as those questioning their relationship with Zionism.
Other signatories on the letter include the Harvard Kennedy School South Asia Caucus Leadership, Amnesty International at Harvard, and Act on a Dream, a group supporting undocumented and immigrant students.
Why are equations important in science, engineering, and mathematics and how are they used to represent real-world situations and relationships
An equation is a mathematical statement that states that two expressions are equal to each other. It consists of variables, constants, and mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Equations can be solved to find the values of the variables that make the equation true.
For example, the equation “2x + 5 = 10” states that the expression “2x + 5” is equal to 10. By solving this equation, we can find the value(s) of x that satisfy the equation.
There are different types of equations, such as linear equations, quadratic equations, and exponential equations. Each type of equation requires different methods and techniques to solve.
Equations are used in various fields of science, engineering, and mathematics to model and represent real-world situations and relationships. They are a fundamental tool for solving problems and making calculations.
