‘Hawkeye’ Star Wrote His ‘Last Words’ To Family In The Hospital Just In Case

Jeremy Renner, famously known for his role in “Hawkeye,” shared in a recent interview that he had written his had written down his believed last words following the severe accident with his showplow which nearly killed him. He explained the intensity of the situation in a conversation with Diane Sawyer, during which he also explained just how bad things were. In the interview, Renner revealed that he wrote the words for his family, apologizing as he cried, leaving Sawyer moved.

Renner’s snowplow accident happened on New Year’s Day, and the actor was almost crushed to death.  He explained that he would have died a slow and painful death if it weren’t for his nephew’s attention to his condition, who called for help.

“If I was there on my own, that would have been a horrible way to die. And surely I would have. Surely,” Renner explained, choking up a bit as he added, “But I wasn’t alone. It was my nephew. Sweet Alex. And the rest of the cavalry came.” He was airlifted, and doctors found he had broken 30 bones, which made him uncertain that he would survive. “So I’m writing down notes in my phone … last words to my family,” he said, apologizing to Sawyer as he struggled to keep his emotions in check.

Sawyer’s interview also showed coverage from Renner’s airlift from the accident site and an audio of the 911 call that brought first responders to rescue him. Since the accident, Renner has been documenting his progress on social media.

Although his situation was traumatic and his recovery process was long, Renner also said in the interview that he would do it over again if given the chance because he initially stepped in the way of the snow-cat to save his nephew.
